Saudi Arabian Students Are Welcome in the United States

Saudi Arabian students who were pulled from Canadian universities are welcome to study in the United States.

Saudi Arabia has announced that it will revoke all government-issued scholarships for Saudi students studying in Canada. Due to international disputes between the two countries, Saudi Arabia has ordered thousands of Saudi students to leave Canada immediately. According to an anonymous Saudi government official, there are currently over 15,000 Saudi students with scholarships and grants in Canada who will be forced to relocate due to this development. Given that Saudi students will not be allowed to return to Canadian universities for the upcoming school year, the Saudi government has suggested that students transfer to schools in other countries. Luckily, many top universities in the United States offer great transfer opportunities for international students. If you are a Saudi student who has been affected by these recent developments and you wish to continue your education in Fall 2018 at a top U.S. university, please visit our Welcoming Saudi Students page.

Saudi-American relations are very strong

Whereas there is tension between Saudi Arabia and Canada right now, Saudi Arabia and the United States have a very good relationship with one another. Full special diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1933, and they remain strong partners today, both economically and politically. In fact, Donald Trump made Saudi Arabia the first country he visited in 2017 after he was elected the 45th President of the United States, further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

There are many Saudi students already in the United States

The flourishing relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States has had a beneficial impact on students. Many Saudi students come to the United States every year to study at American colleges and universities. In fact, according to the Institute of International Education, Saudi Arabia is the 4th most popular country of origin for international students studying in the United States. As of 2017, there were over 50,000 Saudi Arabian students in the U.S.
